The Dow got HAMMERED

Closed down 530.94. The Volatility Index (VIX) is at 28.03. Above 25 is called "True Fear." Above 30 is the "Chicken Little" scenario. I guess the sky isn't falling JUST yet...

I have a BIL who is deep into the market. Been texting with him all day. He is a liberal democrat. I been hammerin' him with.."I hope we slide into a Depression, then all you liberals can have a wet dream cause we will have income equality as we're all broke". Well, he didn't like that message, so I asked him.."what, only other peoples' money can disappear?" I been poundin' him for hours on end, wishing we would all go bankrupt. Told him I would pick out a skyscraper for him to jump off when the market crashes. He's probably mixing likker and xanax by now....

funny

Nah. I still have gains. I don't trade short term. The broader markets have been lower recently.
Just remember, when the crowd panics, buy.

Yup, my 401k is getting beat up but, I'm holding on and buying more. It'll flip soon and I'll have more in the pot.

Yup, the contrarian view has made me quite a tidy profit over many years.

I think this is the fourth time over the years I have gotten out probably a little early and have missed a little of the last up and all of the down...so far. More chicken shyt than knowledge beyond, "I do not know why the market is this high and cannot justify any more pie in the sky." The down side is that there is no where else to put $ that pays better than in the mattress when the market is falling....so flex annuities that share some growth and shield loss. Takes the cream off the milk in exchange for missing the down hill thrill ride. The Fed has destroyed the dollar with their Obama printing press and when the stimulation Stock Mkt bubble burst occurs, as it must, there is nothing left. What is the fed going to do next... already the interest earned rate is near zero. Good job with the economy folks. My investment advise ...buy potato donuts in Portland, Maine. nanner

Negative interest rates? I just noticed my bank started charging me a service charge on my savings account, so I'm already earning negative interest. Gotta close that account...

When I read the thread title I thought our resident doughnut boy was hammering doughnut dough.
