Burning Videos

Hey Guys...This is a computer type question....

I video my sons' Little League games and put them on a private Youtube for the parents to watch. Especially the parents who miss games due to work. One of the parents asked for a DVD of the game cause Grandpa up in Massachussetts doesn't have a computer. I can download the nicely edited video from Youtube to my computer, but I cannot get it to play on a regular DVD player on my TV. I figure I have to convert the file, but don't know to what file type. After trying several file types I got from Internet reading, I cannot make it work.

Anybody know how to take a Youtube, step by step, and get it to work on a home DVD player?

Here is one way..

Watch "Burn Video Files to DVD | Play in DVD Player" on YouTube
https://youtu.be/jhzOD22gyxQ

I think this is similar to the one above....
Watch "How to burn Videos to a CD or DVD that plays on a DVD Player" on YouTube
https://youtu.be/r7FP5PceLt4

Tried these with no luck.....This in one of those ridiculous little things that can drive me nuts. I know I am doing it right but it won't work. I am missing something simple.

Maybe obvious, but make sure you're burning it as a video rather than data. Depending on the burning software, the setting may not be obvious.

We think(daughter and I) that is the problem. We must be missing a setting.

It's a format issue. Just because a video on CD plays on a computer doesn't mean that it will automatically play on a DVD player.
Must have a burner program that can format it to that.

Depending on what type of computer you have, you might need to buy a DVD authoring program. Not all computers come with the necessary software for authoring DVDs. Burning a DVD for use on a computer is different than authoring a DVD to be played on a DVD player, which requires more complicated software. There are licensing issues involved.

I used to use windows media player to burn the video to a dvd not saving it off YouTube. The raw file stored on your pc, burn that to dvd with media player.

Or

If he has a fairly newer tv that is considered a smart tv it will have an Internet browser on it and he can watch the YouTube right on it, no disc needed. Or if he doesn't have that most likely he has a smart phone like an iPhone or droid. If so you can get a cable with an HDMI plug on one end and corresponding phone plug on other and stream the YouTube to the tv.

I'm not going to sugar coat it, it is almost impossible without professional, pricey software.

Final Cut for Mac and Premiere from Adobe for PC

I guess I am going to go the "raw" footage route. Just the same, a Sony palmcorder puts a "MOD" extension on the movie file. That will not play in a DVD player. I can convert the file, but what extension is best? The recorder was set on the highest resolution.

Joe, just bought a sony cx405 palm corder. It records in their format, but also makes copies in mp4. I delete their file extensions and choose mp4 to put in the editor.

Not sure if that gives any direction however/

Yup, Brownie......you can't do that with a Youtube....far as I know.....just the original format. I was hoping to use the Youtube since it is edited and lookin good.

Can he not watch it on or stream it to his TV?

Nuff said.
My mom still has trouble with Comcast on demand.
I understand.

When you connect the video camera to your computer try burning them to the hard drive with windows media player. It would with mine save them in a format that would play on a dvd if burned to a disc.

What kind of video camera? The Sony ones create a "MOD" extension which is unlike other cameras.

It is a Sony HandiCam. Older one, like ten years old. And it's been a few years since I used it overseas. After I got a GoPro this thing kinda just sat around.

But I was always able to burn the files from this to my pc and then to dvd. They would play fine and in beautiful HD. But they still show up as individual files with small pics you chose to play. Like say if I put five or six videos from a certain day on a disc I could never get them to play continuously. One would play and then it would stop and go back to main menu where I'd have to click over on another and push play.
Either way it was better than the GoPro because I could never get those files to burn to disc and play on a tv.

I wonder if I take those files, import them to Windows Movie Maker and string them together before I burn to the CD....maybe it will play as a movie

7.62Kolectr 01-16-2016 07:21 PM

Maybe?

I still have all the discs. When I put them in the dvd player all the files pop up with thumbnail images. I have to use the remote to click over and select one to play it.
I'm not savvy enough with stuff like this to have been able to get them to play all at once. :(

I take the files from the camera and place them in a folder on the desktop. Then open m/m, add the clips in the order you want, and edit from there, when you save to m/m, be sure to pick the option for dvd, not computer.

Might try that Joe,

MMJ,
Got a PC?

Try this; http://download.cnet.com/Free-DVD-Vi...-10893966.html

You basically need a reformater, it can be done it's just difficult to get around the $$ boyz...
