1911 quiz, test your knowledge

How well do you know the 1911???

I dispute question #3.

OBTW, I apparently don't know much about the 1911. :(

Hmmm..... Ellison ... trust me... your prowess with, and exhaustive knowledge of, the 1911 platform is well known to everyone. These gifts have only been surpassed by your highly regarded reloading skills, which will be told as legendary stories around our campfires for generations to come.

Just to be clear, I thought the padre's answer was punny as hell and pretty close to the truth. I applaud his ingenuity and prowess. Touche` my friend. I shall come up with a retort at a later time. My "A few good men" response took most of my creative juices for the moment.

he he he....

I failed miserably but, my excuse is that I could only see half of the questions and answers.

Coyote44 05-08-2016 05:10 PM

Yes, it might have been officially replaced in 1985, but was still in service in the 90's. I was issued one while in Germany in 1991.

sdmc530 05-08-2016 07:22 PM

I got 7....I don't number 3 is a good question either. But that was fun.

TLE2 05-08-2016 09:30 PM

I got 8/10. Interesting quiz.

My Pino Pal, old buddy, you should read the questions more carefully ;)

Question 3: "How many years did the 1911 serve as the main sidearm for the U.S. military?"

Hogwash.....:D

You are right again my friend. Thank you sir!

Since "I" never accepted the Beretta as "MY" official sidearm, I still say 80 yrs. funny

dw1911 05-15-2016 05:07 PM

100%! I too have issue with # 3 though

Shark1007 05-17-2016 08:04 AM

Right Caleb, I got 7/10 and then realized there were more choices I couldn't see.

Guess I need to be banned.

AFJuvat 05-17-2016 08:21 AM

10/10

#3 is a technicality. The M9 was officially adopted in 1985, but I know the first pistol I qualified with in 1989 was a 1911.
