The Inventory Project
Hi Folks! This is a thread I started in FCC, but maybe some of you can help me with identifying a few of the items.
In brief, my last surviving uncle passed away this past February at the age of 93. He left a lot of memories. He also left a lot of firearms of which my aunt (his widow) wants me to take ownership, here in Florida (they live in southern GA). I am already working with a fellow FCC'er (and COTEP'ian) to arrange the Interstate transfer of the revolvers as C & R items. I'll get back to all later with that status. Two of the items have been difficult to identify. One appears to be a re-constructed Remington "Mark III" single shot "something." I'm told by someone on FCC that the Mark III is supposed to be a flare gun but that what I have has been reconstructed as a single shot pistol of unknown caliber. http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...0&d=1464609926 http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...9&d=1464609924 http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...7&d=1464609920 http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...1&d=1464609929 The other item I can't identify is what appears to be a five shot .22 revolver, but it has no manufacturing or serial number that is visible. I can't open the cylinder to determine any engravings. http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...0&d=1464610485 http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...8&d=1464610479 Any help to be able to identify either of these items would be greatly appreciated. The other hand guns are easily identifiable, including a S & W model 15 K frame 6-shot chrome revolver, and a Model 10 six shot long barrel black revolver, as well as an H & R Firearms Model 922 .22 six shot revolver. Thanks much, all! :) |
The revolver appears to be an Iver Johnson Defender or Defender 89.

the revolver needs to soak in Kroil for awhile, that will free things up so you can identify further. The length and size of the chamber part of the MarkIII makes me suspect it IS some kind of flare gun. You may try to find serial #'s, model #'s, and call Remington to see if any records exist as to it's original function and go from there. Good luck

don't forget the Kroil for the revolver. Amazing stuff

I would pull the grips and soak the whole thing at first.

This was another of the family heirlooms - H & R Firearms 922 .22 cal revolver - http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...7&d=1464610385 http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...6&d=1464610072 http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...4&d=1464610067 http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...5&d=1464610070 I should be able to clean this one up a bit as well. My uncle owned two of the pieces himself - 1) Smith & Wesson Model 15 K frame 38 spl short barrel 6 shot chrome revolver: http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...0&d=1464609262 and a Model 10 - http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...4&d=1464609461 Those are in working order. |
Update: The "acquisition" date has been set. I will be executing a transfer agreement with my Aunt shortly after the 4th of July. As it turns out, all of the inventory items qualify as C & R, per 27 CFR §478.11. I have arranged the services of a 03 C & R FFL who will collect them at my Aunt's location and bring them to Florida, where I will receive them a few days later, after proper logging and paperwork, etc.
The 2nd update is that my Aunt was successful in opening a locked cabinet containing her own father's collection of firearms. We knew this is where all the long guns would be located, but what we didn't know is that he also kept an additional three hand guns! Don't have any pictures of these yet, and I probably won't until they are transferred, but add three more to the collection! http://www.floridaconcealedcarry.com...es/banana1.gif I'll keep you posted! |
