Citadel Officer
I just had to play around with goofy colors. I probably wouldn't do it again, just go with black, blued, or parkerized, or nickel or gray or something. Seemed like a good idea at the time though.
Before Duracoating it, I dehorned the heck out of it after seeing one on the 1911 forum that just plain gave me a woodie. The pin-up grips came from Ebay, the sites from Fusion. The black rubber grips are stock, but I bought a pair of Hap Arnold star buttons, cut off the back, and inlaid it in the grip. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psysba5xsx.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psw2fpingy.jpg |
Nice pistol.... A nice set of cocabola (spelling?) wood grips would look great with that green.

I know this Texas kid who makes grips.....

Nice shooter, I had a Citadel full size, liked it but ended up trading it in when I got my full rail RIA. Wish I would have kept it for a truck gun now. I like the black grip look, but not a fan of the shiny medallion in them. I like the colors you did....looks pretty good IMO, not the standard. Everyone needs a colored gun. Ask Ellison to show you his pink Glock! |
Nice, John! Zane(lonestar grips) makes some beautiful grips.
|
Yup, wood grips really are the best. I forgot to mention the trigger is from Fusion too. Smooth faced, slightly rounded.

+1 for Zane making grips. He made a few pairs for my Les Baer. I won't buy grips from anyone else. |

FYI, that stuff (Nuttella) works great on toe nail fungus. ;)

Yes another hijacked thread to our immaturity and jocularity! What a great place!! Back to the gun...don't care for the wood grips on the gun with the colors...looks off to me, but its what each person likes and that is what matters!!! |

Ell, you're the one who brought that Nuttella stuff into the conversation bud. That's one of the first things I noticed when I joined up here, going off topic is quite common. :D BTW, I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to firearms finishes, but to each their own. |

I'll have to try the Nutella, I've tried pills, creams, nothing works. I'm supposed to get a prescription next week for something. I'll ask the doc about Nutella. :D I know, TMI.

Back to Zane's work and the OP's pistol. Just like Ron posted, here is more fine work from Zane:
