I'm a CMP forum member. It has been in process for the last 18 months or so. Still no release date as yet

Yes I would buy one if given the chance

If it even happens we'll be lucky to even get a chance, that, and the price will more than likely be out of range.

I hope they don’t decide to sell them on auction only, that’ll piss me off. I really want one of these but, can’t afford auction prices.

What is the suspected pricing? What was the price last time the CMP had 1911’s for sale? Would it be too far out of line to have a tiered pricing based on condition? I thought there were a hundred thousand or so?

So many questions...

I can answer a few of them.

On the CMP forums, it has been speculated that the pistols will cost between $700 - $1100 each, depending on condition

They have NEVER sold 1911s before, and the last time they sold pistols (M1917 Revolvers), the Gun Control Act had not even been dreamed of.

Part of the reason this has been taking so long is due to the fact that there is a huge difference in state laws when you sell rifles online\mail order vs. selling pistols online/mail order, so they are trying to work all of those issues out.

It’s probably safe to say that California residents are SOL.

No doubt. I would be disappointed if they were going for a grand though. Auction prices wold be crazyier yet I bet

Gatorade 11-25-2017 11:49 AM

So how common are GI 1911’s and what premium do they run as compared to other 1911’s from the same era. Also what will happen to the value of current similar examples when 8000 more are dropped into the market every year?

Caleb 11-25-2017 11:58 AM

I would be willing to pay $1k for a genuine surplus 1911. Especially with a CMP certificate, they value will only go up.

Well, if I go and join the CMP, I just may have a chance after all. Turns out because they are over 50 yrs old, the will fall under the C&R and will be roster exempt. Woo Hoo.

8000 for sale
5,000,000 people want them.

I’m good.
