Just had a not so good feeling. I was standing down by the lake just a few minutes ago and up came a muskrat. The only gun I had on me was my daily carry 10mm razorback. So I unskinned it pulled up to shoot and all I heard was click. That was dead silence for me. I was like really that didn't just happen. But in fact it did just happen. I am just thankful I found it out before it was a life or death situation. So the lesson is guys. Rotate your ammo. This was factory Hornady 180 grain xtp's. My second shot once I cleared the bad round went bang. The primer of the first one did have a good strike on the primer it just never ignited.

Now that just means that you were not supposed to shoot that poor little ole muskrat!!!!!:D

Did round 2 get the muskrat?

i cant say it was a confirmed kill because there was no body. it was a real close shot and he never came back up after going down. but i dunno.

What is a Muskrat?

It's like a big rat that lives near water. Kind of like a nutrea rat but smaller.

Do what we did in the Phillippinnes..a little C-4, blasting cap...fish for the villagers. Bet it works for muskrat, too. Just don't use a pressure cooker..someone may get the wrong idea

Yes I dropped the hammer on it about three times.
with nothing.

Iv'e been finding factory rounds and bulk loaded rounds from commercial vendors witih rounds that fail to fire. As muchas 2-3%. Not a good trend. In all my shooting as a kid, I had one factory round fail to go off as intended.
