Dave,

Honestly, not as much as I'd like. Part of the issue is 60+ year old eyes and peep sights. Not as easy to use as they once were  That said the rifle is a tack driver even with a headspace shim having been installed in the bolt assembly indicative of LOTS of usage.

I got it from a VFW Junior Rifle Team that was switching to Anschutz as the kids had been complaining that the old 513Ts were too heavy. The 27" barreled piece weighs 8 pounds 12 ounces with the sights but no sling. Mine has US Military markings and original parkerized finish which confirmed what the VFW coach told me... they had got them through the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

I will have to take pics of some of my others. This one is made by Magnum Research. It's basically a fancy Ruger 10/22 they even have a Ruger trigger and come with a Ruger magazine. Real fun to shoot.

Bald1...that is a beautiful rifle. Does it have crosshairs in the front sight? I saw one in a gun shop last week but it wasn't for sale. Owner was showing it to the counter guy for whatever reason. I did admire it from a few feet away though.

Browning BL-22 FLD Grade II. Nickel plated engraved receiver, Satin finish walnut with cut checkering. She's a looker and a shooter! Sadly going to be for sale if my wife doesn't get some money coming in soon. Last in first out rule.

Globe sights have interchangeable inserts. I prefer small circles in my front sights. But among the inserts that the Williams / Lyman 17A / etc. front sights come with is indeed are crosshairs... both thick and thin :)

Here's a typical set of inserts available from Brownells:

OK, I'll try to get some in here.

My Savage Mk.II TR. Super shooter. I'm really impressed with the accuracy.

And my Ruger 77/22. It is a really nice rifle thet's very accurate.

Here are all my current rimfires, pistols included
http://www.cotep.org/forum/picture.p...&pictureid=154

Ruger 10/22 with 6-18x50 Bushnell (my new squirrel gun)
Browning BL-22 (my old, old, old, old squirrel gun)
BSA Martini with barrel cut down from 29" to 25" and homemade forend. (my old squirrel gun)
Marlin 99-M1 (my old, old, old squirrel gun, currently rigged for steel shooting)
DW Panther frame with Mimber slide
Browning Buckmark Camper

My old, old squirrel gun (after the Marlin and before the Martini) was a Stevens favorite in 22 WMR...fun to shoot but misfired twice on the same squirrel...so I ditched it.

I think I killed more squirrels with the Marlin than all the others combined...

I have two rules:
1. Does it hit what I am aiming at?
2. Does it go "BANG" every time I pull the trigger?

As Col. Whelen said: "Only accurate rifles are interesting." To that I would add "Only reliable rifles are worth keeping."

Only addition is a Primary Arms M3 style multi-reticle Red dot.

http://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_A...3M_p/pam3m.htm

I have three of these. One is shown, one is on the AR, and the other on a HiPoint 9mm carbine. All keep zero quite well.

Since we're in the Obummer era, you guys with all these 22's need to send a few to us guys who don't have any...because we bought other calibers. It's not our fault, it's society's fault.

I picked up a CZ 512 last week. I put on my BSA sweet 22 and headed down to the range. The trigger is not super. It is definitely a doozy. First 5 shot group with the scope sighted in at 25 yds.
https://scontent-a-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/...16620422_n.jpg
Four more 5 shot groups.
https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/...95208202_n.jpg
I then became a bit bored. So i inserted empty 22 shell casings into holes left by the 22 bullets
https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/...15436353_n.jpg
And then shot them out.

I am looking at the following for a nice bolt action 22lr.

Kimber 82,
Anschutz 1416 D HB Thumbhole
Cooper 57-m Classic.
Walther UIT BV < if i can find one with box papers ect.

What say you all?

I had a cz 455 Varmint thumbhole SST. that i had to return under recall.

BobDE 03-04-2014 02:05 PM

Grouse,

This is not a hunting gun. Single shot. Trigger is 1 1/2 ounces. Slam the bolt too hard and it will go bang!

I shoot the BR50 at my local club with this sweet gun. Got my first 250 at the last club shoot. Needless to say, I was very happy!

I am looking at repourposing a few of the single shots as hunting rifles. Just stiffen up the trigger pull to around 2lbs. It is a thought...

How is the trigger mike, I loved my sst trigger. I did not care for the standard trigger. Have you replaced it with the timney trigger?

MPrimo 03-05-2014 08:17 AM

I have the Yo-Dave spring kit in it now. Pretty darned good for $18. I have a Timney on order and will put it in when I bed the stock in a week or so.

Grouse 03-05-2014 08:57 AM

That sounds good. I ended up finding a nib Kimber 82 for under 800. I am waiting on that. We shall see how it goes. I may pick up a cz just to have another go at it.

On the odd chance. Do you know anything about the currant hamereli X-EESE pistols. How do they run compared to the older sig trailsides. I see some 6" on line for under 9 and mags for 28.. i am giving up on a ruger. Mk series..
