Metro Arms 1911

Folks, I'm considering a trade of my Glock 30 (with extra gear) for this gun and cash. Honestly, I'd never heard of Metro prior to this week and am simply interested in acquiring good 1911's. I haven't been able to find much online about these guns or their values. I'd appreciate any info to help me make an informed decision. Here's a link to the ad on another site:

Thanks for taking the time to look!

IMHO before you buy it or trade for it, look down the barrel, and also cycle the slide, also ask when he bought it............

Thanks Clyde. He says he bought it in 2011 and barely shot it. I can do a visual inspection and try the controls but that still won't tell me if Metro makes a good gun or not. I'm still too new to 1911's to notice all the little things. For me to pursue this, I'd want to know that Metro is as good or better than RIA. Is that a reasonable/knowable way to approach it?

NAMVET72 02-16-2014 03:16 PM

Check this out: http://metroarms.net/ and they only have a 1 year warranty, RIA has a Life Time Warranty.

Nah, I'm good here on COTEP.....man of my word.

Work backfired yesterday, instead of a day off the wife unit had to work a double. No coverage showed up. Woulda been fun, I really enjoy training with Bob. Old Marines are always fun with discipline.
Well, now she has more mooola for my birthday present.

I agree with Clyde, sell the g30 and buy a RIA instead. I have one up for sale on that "other" forum that is a great shooter but, its not a rock.

For the price I'm asking, I'm outright shocked it hasn't sold yet but I really don't want to try and sell a Glock to the moronic masses of FGT. I want a Commander so I'm going to meet the guy tomorrow to have a look.

Also, I saw your ad and you take some really fantastic photos! Is it a hobby or are you a professional photographer?

Thank you but, I'm just a beginner. Bought my lady a Canon T3i DSLR for Christmas. She has not touched itmore than twice so, I'm about to claim it as mine. LOL

Update!

I brought it home today!

For reasons unknown to me I'm unable to attach photos but trust me, it happened :D

I'm really pleased with it - took it down, cleaned it and hopefully will get to the range in the next couple of days to wring it out. The fit, finish and controls are all really nice. If it shoots as well as it feels in my hand, I'm going to be very pleased with my first Commander!

Thanks, John.

As you know it's another Filipino 1911. How many more are made over there, is that the new hotbed of 1911 activity?

They are all built by Ellisons aunts, uncles and cousins. And a few in laws

Congratulations! There's no day quite like New Gun Day.

I can't wait to give a range report! As for pics, like I said, for reasons unknown to me I'm no longer able to post photos. I know you'll kindly offer to post it for me but it gets old being a 'charity case' - lol :D

milkmanjoe 02-17-2014 07:05 PM

Congrats on the new gun that didn't happen since there are no pics.:)

Thanks! I no longer own any plastic guns now. Not that there was anything to knock about my Glock 30 but it's nice to be establishing a stable of steel.

I've now acquired three 1911's in as many months. I really need to hit the breaks for a spell. Although, I do have a rifle I could put on the trading block the next time I get an itch ;)

You got photobucket? If I use it here on dialup, it's like a pregnancy..takes 9 months to load. D/L'd the Android app and post pics from my phone now

Photo sharing is much cheaper and a whole lot less commitment than pregnancy, but it's nowhere near as much fun to install. :D
