Which gun next?
finished...
|
S&W M&P 22, it's an M&P...nuff' said! :D
Ruger 22/45, same grip as a 1911, great shooter, but do not own. Ruger 10/22 Takedown, 'cause it's tacti-cool. Comes with it's own backpack style case. |
S&W has some fine 22 revolvers, a little bit high priced but nice.
In a rifle look at the CZ and Ruger 10/22........ Clyde |
I have a K22 Smith and Wesson which has been used for decades to train revolver shooters. It is a bit heavy for my taste, but is a fine gun. I would not recommend it. I love my Colt Diamondback in 22. It is more fun and a great shooter, but it is out of production and pricey. My Walther P22 is a fun gun and more accurate then I am. I would recommend it highly. It is reasonably priced and you have the option of loading it up like a Star Wars blaster. (Laser, light, silencer, etc.) :D

I'll second the 10/22 Takedown. It's taken me a while, but I've got mine set up just the way I want it. I now have a peep sight with a fiber optic front, or I can pop the scope on it which has the elevation knob graduated out to 150 yards.
Or you could put a 22 conversion on a 1911 and have some pistol fun with a great trigger. |
If I was buying into a .22 right now, I would buy the 10/22 Takedown. Lots of expansion options and it's a great bug out gun.
|
Pistol- m&p 22... Great full size 22 for a trainer or plinker, eats everything.
Rifle- 10/22 of whatever veriety. PS: I have heard the new Ruger American is a goid bolt action for the money. Comes in 22 as well. |
S&W 41, Sweetest 22 you will ever shoot.
|
I had a 10/22 and sold it. Great gun but in my heart I'm a handgun man. Any long guns I have are what you might call fighting arms. If I get another .22 down the road it will be a Ruger Mark III. Iconic pistol in it's own right with a grip angle that mimics a 1911. The options to trick them out are nearly as endless as the 1911 as well.

Pistol: Ruger 22/45 great pistols!
Rifle: Browning of some variety or a Henry lever... |

22/45 is the version that kind of sort of resembles the use of a 1911, plastic frames and has lots of options. the MK series now on MKIII are the all steel pistols resembles a Luger to me. BOTH are super good guns, I just prefer the 22/45.... |
The Ruger 10/22 is probably the most well know 22 rifle on the market, I have 4. I like it but I like my Remington Model 552 Speedmaster as it takes short, long and long rifle 22 ammo. My all time favorite 22 pistol has to be my Baby AutoMag. (BAM) RIA manufactures a 22/45 1911 which consists of a 22LR top end and also a 45ACP top end. My next rimfire 1911 will be one of the new RIA XT 22 Magnums when available!!
I also have 2 Heritage Arms Rough Rider 22/22 Magnum revolvers which for an inexpensive gun are hard to beat. As far as a 22 revolver I would also check into an older Dan Wesson 722. For a suppressed 22 you cannot go wrong with the AWC Amphibian S which is based on a Ruger Mark ll. |

I have three 10/22's. I have a 22/45. I love them all.

Buy whatever you want. If it were me I'd buy an AR style 22lr rifle or a Buckmaster pistol. As to buying a 22 conversion for your 1911, it appeared to me to be almost the same cost as buying a new 1911 style 22.
Just my opinions of course. I have a Savage 22 I bought for my grandson, which he cannot now have. :-{ |
I have one of those Gold Cup fake 1911's that's pretty cool.

For pistol, the Browning BuckMark is great, eats anything you give it! Easier takedown than the Ruger MK Heading down to Nexus shooting today, have a blast with the BuckMark there |
Be careful if you buy a 10/22. It is real easy to spend a fortune adding all the cool stuff you can get for them.:D
|
I love the Ruger MkIII's and the Browning Buck Marks, I tricked out both of mine very nicely with Burris FastFire III red dots and all Volquartsen internals for the MkIII.
I've got an AR styled 10-22 that I'm very fond of, it's got a FastFire III on it also. |

Here are a few of my 22 rifles.:)
If you get a Ruger 10/22 leave it as is. As you can see the second Ruger from the top has been changed, a fluted bull barrel and a stock to match the barrel. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...100313_3-1.jpg |

All this serious contemplation when all you need to know is .22LR is a fun plinking round. Not a life saving or survival or something you need a serious gun for. Get something to blast away and have a blast in the process. The STG-44 22 will be fun! |
