Recommend a new tumbler!!
Well my Frankford Arsenal tumbler that I have had since about 2008 is I think finally getting tired. I was tumbling brass today and realized that it was making noise but really not doing anything. I tried it empty, with media and also with media and a small load of brass........same thing.
I am open to tumbler suggestions but not in the hundred dollar range please.:D This FA tumbler has lasted about 6 years seeing a lot of use so I may just go back with another one but I am open to suggestions!!:) |
I use the orange one...Lyman 1200, I think. Has the slots in the lid, which kinda sucks, but it works ok. About 50 bucks
|
I use an electric cement mixer, Lowes...$180.00......too much $$$ though
|
I bought a vibrating one from Harbor Freight on a suggestion from someone here. Don't think it was more than a hundred.
|
I've been using my RCBS tumbler regularly for about four years and have had no trouble with it.
It's $77 at Midway, and there's a $10 rebate right now. |
I too have the lyman 1200...work swell but wish it was a touch bigger but has been running strong for 3 years now...... would buy it again...
|
I've got an RCBS tumbler. Had an issue with the motor about a year or so into usage. I called them up, explained the situation and they sent me a replacement motor free of charge.
Great customer service. Go big green. http://www.cotep.org/forum/showthread.php?t=4504 |

Anyway, thanks for the comments so far. I have been looking at the RCBS, Lyman and also one from Graf and Sons whom I am going to call on to see who the manufacturer is.:) |
SR787 made by Smart Reloader. Ran me around $45.00. Does a great job.

My FA tumbler has been perking along for 7-8 years. At $35 (on sale at this writing) it is a bargain. If mine ever does fail I'll just hang onto the lid, toss the body and buy another.

I know... I know.... you said not over a hundred dollars.... but even a Cabela's 6 pound tumbler will go ya $69-79..... so I am going to throw this out to you anyway.
http://www.harborfreight.com/18-lb-v...ose-96923.html I've had two of these Harbor Freight tumblers over the years. They are built like a tank, and will handle larger amounts of brass. About as close as I'm going to get to a commercial grade tumbler in this life. But it IS $164 online with no sale going on. I purchased my current one for $119 on sale, then got a 20% discount, which I used to purchase a two year extended warranty. Well worth my money. Only you can decide for yourself. Michael |
I ordered one today from Graf and Sons. Great deal with my dealer discount.
It is the same one made for Berry's Bullets and Cabela's. :) |
