CLOSE GONE iron sights , way high

CLOSED GONE Got some new iron flip up sights . Using my in barrel mount laser the sights are way high . A good 3 to 4 in. Front sight is all the way down . Can this front sight be filed down to match the laser dot at 50 yrds. ? or what ?

Thanks , Arley

What front sight do you have? You can file down the post or buy replacement ones that are shorter/taller ect..

Also......is your handguard rail an even hight with the upper reciever rail?

Is the rear peep sight flipped back (battlesight zero) or flipped forward (long range)? Just a thought

Front mounts to the gas block and it is even to the rail .

Lower rail for the dot maybe?

Arley, reread your OP. Can you post pics of your setup? How is the laser mounted, what possition?

Arley 10-23-2014 08:07 PM

It is a bore sight laser . Fits in the barrel .

If the bore sight dot is HIGH you need to move front sight UP to move POI-point of impact down.
If I read your post correct?
Remember move rear sight in direction you want POI to go
Move front sight in OPPOSITE direction you want POI to go.

You say dot high sight all the way down. You're moving it the wrong way.

Is this a matched set of sights, same maker? Or mismatched set?
If it's a matched set you should be able to zero them unless something else is wrong?

Not sure how I missed this but, Arley......have you resolved this issue? It could be your optic is mounted too high as brownie mentioned.

milkmanjoe 10-25-2015 03:26 PM

What distance are you checking it at?

Pig was polite enough to point out to me this is a year old thread. :)

But anyway he's moving sight the wrong way.
