Hello from the DPRofMD
Howdy All,
A Texan by birth but grew up in South Florida. So I've called myself a "Displaced Floridian" ever since. My wife and I have called South Florida "home" despite living outside of Florida since my active duty days and subsequent civil service career, which is about to end when I retire in a couple more years (I'll never really retire but move on to a second career). The right to carry and defend myself outside my home is severely curtailed in the increasingly "progressive" state I currently reside. I long to move back "home" to a state that's still part of America. I've been a professional instructor for almost two decades in subjects other than firearms training and that's the reason I've stayed up here all this time; my experience and training are so specialized that there are very few areas of the country where I can work. That work has kept me so busy that I also never seemed to find the time until recently to pursue NRA instructor credentials, despite being an avid shooter since my active duty days. However, I've recently shifted my priorities a bit so I'm now trying to add that skill set to my teaching repertoire, too. Just in case anyone was wondering, the moniker comes from an event during a fly-fishing/camping trip to the back-country of California on the South Fork of the Kern River back in 1997. I'll just say that the two of us that experienced it continue to this day to say, "if I hadn't been there to witness it, I'd never believe it was true!" Happy Hunting, BeerHunter P.S. Despite the obvious joshing "Mimber Lover" label under the screen names of newbies like me, I've never owned a Kimber and don't plan to. My favorite 1911 in my stable is a Springfield Armory MC OPERATOR! |

When I first moved to Georgia, I was shocked at how much less gun friendly the laws were here than in Mississippi. But the legislature here has pleasantly surprised me lately and closed the gap! Although Mississippi just opened it up again a little with their open carry law. Thank heaven there are still some free states! Welcome to Cell Block "C"! Sounds like you'll fit right in with the rest of us miscreants! http://www.cotep.org/forum/picture.p...&pictureid=887 |

I know what you meant but I wouldn't characterize Florida's gun laws as "lax." I would characterize other places gun control laws as "restrictive!" |
