After seeing all of your photos I've decide to either:

A: never take another picture.... or
B: send all of my pistols for you to photograph

of course option B will most likely wind up with me being gunless:eek:

Nice cannon BTW.. Need a range report..

Oh man, I'm jealous! I've fired an Ishapore .308, and would really like to get one some day, along with a No. 4 and a Smelly, both in .303. Actually the first centerfire bolt gun I ever fired was a No. 4.

Are you sure about the 10 rounds? I thought the mags on the Ishapore .308s held something like 11 or 12 rounds. Next time you're loading that thing and you get to ten, keep pushing rounds in to see if they go.

Paul

No ETA for a return shipment on those guns so, you might want to hold off on sending them. Lol.... Range report after the holidays.

Prices are only going up, dont wait too long.

I will double check but, I believe you are correct. It is a 12 round mag, I was just being 10rd communist state sensitive for certain members of this forum. :D

Took the Beast (that is what I'm calling it after today ) out this morning to the local Sheriff's range. The recoil is not bad considering but, it pushes straight back. If the stock is not in the "pocket", you WILL know it! My buddy shot two rounds and had enough, lol. Me? Well, either I'm a badass or dumbass and shot roughly 80rds.

Anyways, back to the range report. Once I got the scope zeroed for the cheap ZQ1 Walmart ammo, it was on like Donkey Kong. I was only shooting at 50 yards but, we had a 2 o'clock 20+ crosswind. Was getting a 1.25" group from a surplus rifle with non match ammo. Not too shabby considering the rifle is made to shoot 3-4"s at 200yds. I will try some match ammo and see what it does at 100yds (my preferred zero).

I'm going to go find that ice pack now so, more to come next trip.

PS: sorry, no pics. I brought the camera but, battery was dead. D'oh!

That's a nice looking rifle, has it been redone or is that original finish?

Thanks Brownie. It looks like it is original finish. The Indians used to paint these with a thick black paint with no regards to "quality", just get it covered to protect it from rust. Unfortunately, any collector factor has been trashed because the receiver was D&T (a couple of times ). But, I bought it to take shooting and not worry about damaging the collector value. I can't wait to put some match ammo or eventually reloads through it to see how it really shoots. Seams to like heavier bullets according to the PO.

Got it, I've seen em painted like that but that one seems exceptional and not beat up/scratched much.

I think you'll be surprised how accurate that puppy can be, keep us posted

zukinut 01-03-2015 10:55 PM

Great to hear you had fun with it nanner
