Camera questions
I'm looking for some advice on a new camera. As is indicated by my lousy gun and grip photos I need to upgrade to something easy to use yet somewhat flexible, possibly interchangeable lenses. Not sure what to look for. Would like to be at no more than $400. Suggestions would be appreciated...

i'll ask my brother, he's an amateur photographer and is really into cameras so he may have some ideas.

The last camera I bought was a Canon T3i two years ago,it will run you around $550-$650.I know that's a lot higher than $400,but it's a hell of a camera.I'm just scratching the surface on how to use it properly, but I think it's hard to beat.Canon has newer models out now,you can probably catch a deal on one somewhere.

The last 2 or 3 weeks I've been using my Iphone 5 for pictures here, don't judge by that.

for that price range my brother suggests the Canon T3 or the Canon T5.
the T5 is what he's got. http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Digital-...=1418792171489 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Rebel-EF...=1418792246562 if you were willing to spend a little more he Suggests a Cannon T3i or a used 60D. |
I really like Canon, had a Rebel T3. My son is still taking great pictures and video with it. I have D60 that I purchased 3 years ago and it is a wonderful camera but considerably more money and way more camera than I need. The Rebel was more than adequate for very nice pictures even in difficult settings.

I'm still amazed that it's possible to get a Canon or Nikon DSLR with basic lens for under $500.
A friend of mine bought a T3 last Christmas, and he's been very happy with it. |
I have 3Ti and it does everything! You cant go wrong with any of these suggestions. For your budget, go with the 3T or 5T or used 3Ti or 60D.

I'm still using my Nikon FTN and Nikkormat with a bunch of lenses I got when I was in Japan in the 60's. Been wondering if the lenses are interchangeable with the new digital Nikons???

I will throw in my opinon....I had a canon T3 that was a great camera. My dad was looking for a new camera and bought it from me and at that time the Cannon T4I had just come out and I got that. I am a huge fan on the Cannon line, I really liked my T3, my T4I is fantastic. You will not be dissapointed with a T3. You can get one for 3-350 if you look. I think I saw Kmart at $299 in the paper last week.
good luck.... |
You can't go wrong with any of the Canon Rebels. I have an old film model that I loved, but when I went digital, I wanted something that I could put in a shirt pocket. My sister has a digital Rebel (not sure which model).
Of course, buying a good camera is like buying a gun that has oodles of mods available. There is a never ending parade of MUST HAVE accessories... http://www.cotep.org/forum/picture.p...&pictureid=888 |
Man, you just missed a killer Canon T5i sale at SamsClub. They had a whole kit: body, 2 lenses, memory card and bag for $459.
My daughter has a Canon T3i and it's a great camera. |

I think a newer phone has a sufficient camera.
Two things that pros do is 1) steady the camera, and 2) light the subject. Do that and your photos will improve! The other item is compression. You can have a great camera with huge file sizes but once they get compressed, they lose sharpness. |
