Twin RIA Compacts Range Test

Ordered two RIA Compact Tacticals’ from Bud’s Gun shop for me and my bride to be. Our wedding is in about a month, and I’ve been hiding these in the back of my safe for about two months now!
For the price 460$ out the door each, the quality is very good and solid fit. No rattles and the slide to frame finish is very very tight for a pistol this price. The parkerized finish does scratch easily, but as soon as I put 500-1000 rounds through it, I will have a two tone Cerakote finish put on it (OD green/Black). I carefully inspected, and cleaned both pistols, oiling heavy on the rails and barrel, and wiping the excess. I use CLP & Wilson Lube. Both are back to back in serial #’s. Twins!

So I took one of the pistols to the range, and will probably take the other this weekend maybe. Of course my intent is to make sure both pistols function before I wrap them up for the wedding day. There's nothing worse than a gift that doesn't work, right?

I brought the ACT mag, 2 - WC 8 round ETMs, 1 WC 7 round officers, and 1 - WC 10 rounder. I used full sized mags until my officers mags come in the mail, and was careful not to over insert.
I must say the blackout sights didn't bother me shooting at 15 feet, and we're ok at 20-25. Took aim and the first shot out was a dead ringer at 15 feet. I'm not claiming to be a marksman, but I think I shot this 3.5" 1911 pretty well! For quick Follow-up shots it was easy to keep on target. I can't say this with my M&P 40c, but not too far behind.

I shot 175 rounds in 1 hour at the range. 100- 230gr CCI Lawman, 50- 185gr Remington UMC, 25- 230gr Remington Golden Sabers. I even mixed the rounds in the magazines. I only had 2 FTF, one was with the WC 10 rounder, and the other was the ACT MAG was not seated properly. Not bad! I'm very happy so far and plan to CCW this pistol for summer carry. I will follow up on more range reports and reliability.

Nice report!

Great pistols, wish they made them lightweight.
