I work and live in that world. I estimate 90% of confrontations could have been avoided if the victims would have been more situational aware.

Many years ago I went to a PBA meeting held at a catering hall. I parked in the parking lot and walked in. A co-worker approached me and said he was observing me from the second floor and noticed I scanned the whole parking lot as I crossed it.

After a while it becomes second nature. I usually don't realize I'm doing it until something catches my interest.

Same here... Lisa once asked what I was looking for when I stepped out of the car and approached the establishment. I responded..... "Anything".

That woman complains I always sit facing the door, and look at everyone as if they are a target. I informed her that they are

Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean there aren't people out to get us. ;)

Trust your children and Jesus.

And keep an eye on your children

It should be a way of life. Every defensive shooting course I teach, we teach Color Codes of Awareness and OODA Loop disruption...........Definitely never goes out of style. If anyone has any questions after reading this PM me, I have a pretty good grip on it.
