First Impressions Wilson Spec-Ops 9

Finally have it in my hands and at the range. 150 rounds down the pipe without a hiccup and no issues. 16 rounds of sweetness and a total weight of 36.9 oz. loaded. Polymer (Kevlar-last had that as a keel guard on my Old Town tripper canoe) frame with a fully machined steel rail insert. Wilson Combat ignition system and 4.25 inch thin profile carbon steel slide and a 4.5 inch stainless match grade hand fit barrel. Large magwell for the double stack magazine making a giant insert hole for the tapered end of the magazine making this the quickest reloading pistol I have ever had by far. Fits me like a glove, is a soft shooting very handsome piece that performed without a flaw. I am pleased with this work hard, play hard gun. Some pictures to follow. Dennis

And its a Wilson all the way down to the little saddle to fit over the plunger and guide the slide stop into lockup and help keep fumble fingered old farts like me from idiot scratches....hopefully. I have a great camera and no skills or lighting equipment. Hope the pics are ok..

Congratulations. Best of luck with it.

Interesting. First one I've seen. Does it break down like a steel 1911? Same components? Guess the second set of pics answered my questions.. lol

Congrats!!!

Is it me or is the frame/grip area chipped? It's not a smooth radius like the left side.

Clyde, I am a serious grip addict. Just posted 2 pictures of new grips that arrived yesterday. I have enough 1911 grips to outfit the Cotep membership. In a weird way I am happy that the grips on this pistol do not change. This is purposely not a pretty gun, I already have them. This is a no sweat gun, one to have fun with when I would be worried about the others. That said, they are fugly but work well with the front and rear straps providing a secure hold that allowed me to empty 16 round magazines without adjusting grip or lowering the gun, both 2 and single handed.

Ellison, good eye. The grip isn't chipped, but a smooth arc similar to the other side. What you are seeing is not on the frame but on the steel rail. It is the bonding material that binds that kevlar frame to the machined steel rail insert that outflowed between them and hardened on the steel. I really had not noticed it and just pulled the piece out and checked it. I will ask WC about it but it is not really noticeable and a non issue after the first scratches.:) The camera and the light from my lamp and flash really pop it. I'll let you know what they say. List on this gun is $2285 so finding this is a surprise.
