Thanks Clyde. The articles are interesting. I still haven't gotten to the point where I will take a tool to a $1000 pistol, but I appeciate those who do.

Have a happy and healthy New Year.

The Dremel tool and a firearm should not even be in the same room!!!!

Most users tend to go a bit overboard on the use of the Dremel and as everyone knows.............................you can take off metal but it is very hard to put it back on!!!!:D:D

AMEN I did my first build about 2 years ago and I used a dremel once, bought a bunch of parts twice and never used it again! Such a fine line skill....

I was surprised that a Dremel and a few bits were top of the list on tools needed for the Bob Rodgers class. Oh, by the way, did I mention that I'm excited to go?? :)

AutoMag 01-04-2012 04:53 PM

Lane, that is because Mr. Rodgers knows how to use them carefully!!!:D

Not to derail the thread, but could we/I get a copy of that list? I'm guessing it's what you would need on top of the price of admission.

I pass by his shop about 4 times a year and drool every time.

Did I mention I'm jealous? :)

Ive used a dremel when I had alot of metal to take down (like when I bobbed my grip safety down as short as the frame tangs)....but I stopped and did the finish shaping and blending with files. I cant believe this article says to use a dremel for the finish work:eek:.

That should be left to experienced hands lol

While, for most, a Dremel has no place in working on guns, in the right hands, it's a quite useful tool. Mostly for polishing but, some grinding/profiling can be done if one knows how.
