SD Ammo for 1911

I'm getting closer to the day that I'm going to start carrying the Valor on occasion as my EDC. I normally carry Gold Dots as my self-defense ammo of choice. Are there any recommendations of other brands that I should try out? I usually shoot a few hundred rounds of the carry ammo before making a final decision

The deadliest Defense Ammo I know of. It's what I carry and It Performs Very Well in My Valor's!

Asym or Wilson Combat with the Barnes bullet. They load with VihtaVentori (sp) low flash powder. I carry nothing else. I shot it side by side in an indoor range...like night and day, literally. It is EXPENSIVE, which is why I shall buy the powder and bullets and load my own when available

Federal 230gr HST or what pig carries. Nothing else comes close.

I have a box of Winchester JHP I carry when I do carry my 1911. I really need to get another round for SD, but I don't carry the 1911 very often.

So I could use the help with ammo myself.

Throw that box away or just shoot it. Go online and buy the HST and be done with it.

I carry HST in my .40 and probably would do the same in a 1911 once I put enough through it to confirm it isn't picky about it. I also picked up a few boxes of Hornady Critical Defense during the crunch when there was no SD ammo to be had just because it was on the shelf and wanted to have SD ammo for as many of my calibers as possible.

HST or Winchester Ranger...in 230 grain HP

pig has probably the best idea, though not readily available

tnoutdoors9 on youtube is a fun watch

I like Ranger when I don't have any home made stuff to use. Ranger is pretty consistent on the chrony too.

Like Joe,

HST or Winchester Ranger...in 230 grain HP or the Gdot's. Any of those 3 in 230 grain. Another good bullet that did well in our testing was the Rem Golden Sabre [ though I won't carry it with the other three available ].
