New Grip maker (and member) intro

Hey all! My name is Ryan Critchfield and I have been a huge 1911 fan for about a decade. My father in law and I are starting an exotic wood grip company and are in the process of getting an online store put together.

A little history on the grips we make and why we make them: I have been a 1911 fan/owner/enthusiast for about a decade and am somewhat mechanically inclined. After ordering grips from several different custom and non custom sellers, I decided that none of them offered the combination of aesthetics and fit that I wanted for my pistols. After speaking to my highly talented, woodworking father in law, he offered to make some grips to fit my pistols and tastes. These grips are the fruit of his labors. The woods used are either stabilized or plasticized, in his shop, using combination of a vacuum kiln and a hydraulic pressure pot. The results are durable and beautiful. The contour of the grips matches perfectly with a Smith and Alexander magwell, but looks great without them too. Here are some on pistol pics:

Feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them. The grips we make are beautiful, durable, and precise. Custom work is always available, but will have a wait that varies with our order load. As I obtain more grip types, we will start making more sizes. When the site is up, there will be an option to get custom quotes and select scales to have made into specific grips. For now, I will be overloaded and try to get to as many PM's as I can in one day. Thanks for stopping in to read my short bio. Eventually, I will do some write-ups on how we do grips and show some pictures of the process. Thanks NAMVET for inviting me over here!

Welcome aboard! I might be in the market for a set of grips for a S&W Mod. 39. No one else seems to make these.

Ryan, seeing Snipernest's post above... if you can make for the SW model 39 / 39-2, I'd also be interested as a gift for my best friend. PM me

Sorry guys, no plans immediately for revolver grips, but that doesn't mean I won't consider it. We are just getting our feet wet in 1911 grips. Once I have all sizes and variations worked out, we will consider other grip types. Of course, there is always an option to do a full custom grip, but it will take time and be more expensive. Plus, I need to work on getting the website put together. More variations will come after that.
