California's ....

..... Oroville dam spillway failure: nearly 190,000 ordered to evacuate. :(

"It could also breach the network of levees along the way and cause problems as far away as Sacramento."

"We've never seen anything like this in modern times," a state water official told NBC News. "This is a worst case scenario for any water management agency, a worst case nightmare."

I wonder how many Go Bags and Bug Out scenarios were put into action in California for this? It seems most Californians are dependent on the government to provide safety and direction but we all know there are a few who are prepared, ready and able to act. Don't know how close you are to all this Elli but I hope you can look at this like a drill and make sure you are able to move with the family quickly if you need to.

i just re-packed my Go Bag the other day but it was lacking a few items. I don't live anywhere near a damn here in Florida, Hurricanes give a couple days notice at the least. However if Turkey Point Nuclear Plant were to have an issue we could be given an order to evacuate that quick. The majority of our family photos are digital and we could just grab the laptop and the back up drive, but the older ones are in a tote in the garage. Would need to get that too.

Go bag packed. Pics from on laptop. Ready when necessary....maybe.

We need a go bag comparison thread!

Cali may secede, or should I say recede, faster than they wanted.

Hope all you folks on the left coast are ok..

Prayers for the folks affected by this.

Water level has dropped below the lip of the emergency spillway. They dodged the bullet for now, but more rain is forecasted for this week.

If only there had been an extended dry period in the area when the dam could have been inspected and repairs made...........
