Fla. woman shot during police training exercise
 

This is just sad. During a police/public training exercise, a Florida woman was shot and killed.

Not exactly sure how I feel about this right now. I don't want to bash the LEO that was involved, but it's kind of hard not to.

Knowlton was hit with a live round from Officer Coel’s gun, which should have been loaded with blanks. She was taken to a hospital where she died.
Defense attorney Jerry Barry said Wednesday that Officer Coel didn't know the gun was loaded with live ammo.
Officer Coel, 28, is facing a manslaughter charge that could put him behind bars for up to 30 years. Police Chief Lewis was charged with culpable negligence, a misdemeanor.

I think it was longer than that? What is 'new' as of a month or so ago is that they finally finished their investigation and decided to charge both the chief and officer involved. There is a member on FCC that personally witnessed it and to this day one can read in his posts that he is still affected by it.

The officer who shot her has had a few problems in his past as well. This isn't his first mess up. Let go from another PD due to it.

It should also be noted that the deceased's husband was also only feet away and watched his wife killed in this event.
