I am actually very torn on this issue. I believe a business owner should have the right to decide who they do business with. Be it a wedding cake, a dinner at a restaurant, an art gallery or just a convience store around the corner. However I can see how that can lead to civil rights abuses and am reminded that we are not so far removed from whites and colored signs.

I guess right now I am leaning toward business owners refusing service if they decide to. However they need to realize actions have consequences, and their actions may cost them business and may even cost them their actual business. If they are so strong in their beliefs then they should have no problem taking the lumps that may come.

In my time as a store manager the only times I have ever run a customer off was when they were actually shoplifting from the stores. I may have made a couple people very uncomfortable during their stay in my store but thieves were always run off.

Sorry but in this case I can't agree, no business owner/manager has the right to kick someone out because of their political beliefs or simply because they work for a President that they don't like, that is just wrong.

So should a baker be forced to make a same sex wedding cake if they don’t agree with same sex marriage? Seems very parallel to me.

Not at all the same. In making the cake for a gay wedding they are actively participating in an activity that is contrary to their religious beliefs.

But a restaurant serving food to someone is simply allowing that person to eat. It is in no way endorsing or participating in any activity that is contrary to their beliefs...unless they believe that people they disagree with should starve to death.

Well some people do believe that the current administration is actively contrary to their beliefs as well. They consider travel bans an attack on religion, and conservative Supreme Court appointees to be a threat to every liberal case brought before the court. I believe I heard The Red Hen had some LGBTQ employees who felt directly attacked by this administration on a number of fronts.

Also saying the Sanders party will starve to death is a bit of exaduration. I am sure they were properly fed at another restaurant that was grateful for their business.
