A bit of Burt Reynolds trivia...

My favorite film of his was a bit more personal to him, I think. "Sharky's Machine." I think he put a lot of his soul into it. I always had a "life mystery" about the film for which I had hoped I would meet him one day so I could ask him about it. As it turns out, I recently solved that mystery without needing to meet him. Mystery as follows....

When the assassin in the film (Billy Score, played by Henry Silva) was preparing to take out one of his female targets (one of the hookers), he would say something like "Hello my sweet blind angel..." And then he'd say something in a different language. I thought, originally, it was Latin. I discovered recently (thanks to the SAP track on my Blu-ray), that the language is Italian. And although that track doesn't specifically say what he says, I was able to get a native Italian speaker to listen to it for me. What he says is:

Quote:

La Testa tua esplodera... English: "Your head will explode."
A life mystery solved. Thank you Burt.

I always got the impression that Reynolds never took himself too seriously like your typical Hollywood types do. He always seemed like someone you could sit down and have a beer with and shoot the bull.

Really sad to hear this. I liked a lot of his movies like White lighting, Gator, Hooper, The longest yard, W.W. and the Dixie dance kings, Cannonball run, Smokey and the Bandit, deliverance.

RIP Mr. Reynolds.

The Allman Brothers recorded an album on his ranch in Jupiter Florida in the 90's. He was friends with a lot of folks
