Anybody cast their own boolits?

Reloading makes shooting much cheaper, but only as long as you can find components to reload with. I'm starting to stockpile powder, primers, cases, and bullets, but the day may come where I can't find bullets anymore. So I'm considering getting into casting for my own boolits.
I've been over at the Cast Boolits forum, and doing some research. I've bought the Lymans Cast Bullets Handbook, and am studying the matter. So I got to wondering how many of you cast your own, or if you ever considered it, and what made you do it, or not.

I do not, I have heard and seen results of casting gone bad. Bodily injury is what I am talking about!!

I guess if you are very careful, as you should be it would be OK.

Contact Dale, aka -"dsparkie" here on the forum. He's a boolit caster and has made some for me.

I've cast bullets for years, I used to hand cast all my bullets but now have a Master Caster with .45 200 grn SWC , .40 175 grn SWC, and a 9mm 125 grn RN molds for it. Those handle most of my needs but I sill have 2 cavity molds for other calibers I shoot. My lube sizing is done on a Magma Star sizer.

I don't shoot near as much as I used too.

I've been shooting bullets I cast for years.

I cast bullets for:

9mm
38/357
.45 acp
.45 Colt
.44 spl/mag/AMP
.41 mag

Never had a problem casting or shooting my bullets.

I use gas checks on 357 and 44 mag

I started casting over 30 years ago to save money on jacketed bullets. I started with a cast iron pot on a gas burner in the garage. Later i found it was great because I had more options on the loads I could create and just plain enjoyed making one more component of the process mine. I have never had any kind of problem with reloading cast bullets, pistol or rifle. Get a good pot, thermometer, a molds and you're on your way.
