AA 22cal Standard Conversion Kit

Just got my kit in the mail today. Comes in its own case with a cleaning kit, and I have 2 10 round polymer magazines.
~CNC Machined 7075-T6 Aluminum Slide with Steel Breech Insert.
~Heat Treated 4140 Steel .22LR Barrel, Recoil Spring, Guide Rod and Slide Stop Notch.

Locks back on the last round, something you dont get from Kimber, Ceiner, or Marvel kits

Serrated top, adjustable rear sight, and both sights are bright white and easy to see.

The nice thing about this one is that there are NO FRONT COCKING SERRATIONS! All the new ones I see have them now (barf)

Of course, as soon as the mailman showed up, it started pouring here....so sadly no range report for now :-(

You just remove the top end from your 1911, and slide the 22 top end onto the fram and assemble just like a normal 1911

Overall, a nice looking piece of equipment.

For those interested, here is a comparison pic of my Standard Model and AutoMag's Target Model. The difference in these are that his sights are mounted to the stationary barrel assembly, and mine are mounted to the moving slide....his design gives tighter groups according to the AA website.

That's really nice, Lonnie. I'll be PMing you for some more info on that set up. I'd like to shoot squirrels and coons with my 1911's but not .45 :D

That looks nice. I've also been somewhat considering a 22 lr conversion.

Eagerly awaiting the range report.

I'm pretty curious about that myself.

like usual....the WalMart closest to me was out of what I came for. No CCI MiniMags and only 1 box of Remington Golden Bullet. Since I only have 100 rounds, I only ran 3 mags through it from the kitchen out the back door....I'll use the rest up when the rain lets up and I can hang some targets. Threw a tin can aout about 25 feet and consistantly hit it after I found I was hitting high....I need to adjust the rear sight.

First 2 mags I fired at a steady pace, and with no jams on the Remington ammo, I rapid fired the last mag.....still no jams. It isnt locking back on the last round with either mag I have, but I suspect it may be having to do with my RIA and not the conversion lol. I have a gap between my mags (22 and 45) and the notch in the bottom of the frame, i.e. they hang down....I think its a common issue with Rocks. I may try one of those EGW mag releases that brings your magazine up tighter.

reading from the site, did you swap out hammer springs?

No I did not. I saw that too on the site. My kit isnt new, and has nothing in the manual about changing spring weight and didnt have a spring with it either. I will call AA tomorrow and ask them about the hammer spring and if it needs changed on the kit I have. It says the factory 1911 spring can cause jams, but Im having no jams so far.

It does mention that some manufacturer's plunger springs and/or slide stops can cause issues with slide locking back.....so I will tinker with that

Thanks for a great report, but how about a real range report from a real range with targets and a jerky range officer!
