My Sig is Here!

My new Sig 1911 Carry is apparently in the LGS one day early. I'm pretty excited. :toast:

Will go fetch her later this afternoon and hope to have some pics tonight.

First time I can get on the range is Saturday. I've got a couple hundred 230gr JHP loaded up and I'll buy some range ammo as well.

Sig Pics & First Impressions

I picked up the Sig this afternoon.

It was actually a funny deal. They gave me a Sig box, I opened it, and the first thing I saw was a DA trigger. I said "Oh ****, this isn't what I ordered".

They took a look and said, "Yeah, it's yours, it's a Sig."

After a couple of disappointing minutes of screwing around, they figured out it was someone else's gun and brought out mine.

First impressions: very tight and good looking. Everything seems to work just fine.

Grips are really nice. It handles very well. Checkering on front and back gives a really solid feel to the grip. Night sights are easy to line up and get a picture. Racking the slide is smooth as silk.

I field stripped the thing, cleaned it up, and lubed it. It actually looked ready to shoot out of the box. After the Citadel, which has an internal bushing, this really brought me back to my military days. First time I've field stripped a standard 1911 in almost 30 years, I guess. It felt good.

So, a couple of pics. As usual, I apologize in advance for my lousy photo skillz. The blemish on the frame in the 2nd pic is me removing the serial #.

I'll be taking it out to the range Saturday. I've got 150 range rounds and 200 hand loaded 230gr JHP. I'll let you know how it works out.

I've gotta say, so far, I am very impressed. I'm pretty new to the 1911 world and I really like my Citadel CS, but the Sig is on another level entirely.

Patience, Colonel!

You'll get 'em. Just no time to get the thing stripped and cleaned and out to the range today.

It looks and feels good, now I want to know if it shoots straight. Or at least as straight as I can.
