Remington Rand

Just picked this up. I don't think it could be upgraded. The residue on the gun is from the wax paper. I don't think the slide has ever been racked.

WHAT THE HECK!!!!! How in the world did you find that jewel? Congratulations on the purchase.

One of my buddies dad has an old Colt. I don't remember the year on it but it is OLD. It's beautiful. Not beat up at all but 99% of the blueing is gone. It's just "grayish silver". I go over to his house once a month to clean it and inspect it because HE STILL SHOOTS IT!

I make really light reloads for him to shoot through it, just enough oomph to cycle the pistol and not beat it up. I tried to talk him out of shooting it but he wasn't having any of that. He shoots it very well and often. He won't part with it either. I've offered him a generous amount of money.

Again, congratulations. That's really nice.

Zilmo, apparently... you have a govt. model manufactured in 1944. By this time, Remington Rand was making all its own parts (earlier models by RR contained parts from the other manufacturers, with some coming from Singer machinery.) Your's is definitely considered a "jewel." Can't see the markings below the slide stop in your picture (if any).... but if its there and it says "FJA" that the mark of Col Frank J. Atwood, Inspector of Ordnance. Other inspection proof marks can be found on the bottom side of the trigger guard.

You have a rare gem here. Personally, I wouldn't touch it unless the old Fat historian guy on the Military Channel wrote you a certified letter telling you to have some work done on it!!!!! LOL.....

Congratulations!
