Para "Slim" Warthog
Thinking of a Slim Warthog (single stack) for a BUG. Any experience or opinions?
Any aftermarket stuff for the Warthog? |
I don't own a Para, so I can't really comment on the firearm itself. I can however, speak about the Springer micro compact that looks to be almost the same as the Para.
Both guns are bushingless. The para has a single spring and guide rod assembly while the Springer has dual springs. Probably the most interesting difference between the two is that the Para can be taken apart with no tools, while the Springer requires the use of a 1/2 inch piece of plastic/phenelic tubing, sliced in half along the length to hold the guide rod during removal and cleaning. Without that one little piece, you're out of luck. I'd be willing to bet that the firing characteristics of both are similar. I.E., they buck like a demon with a full load. You'll need to practice with either firearm to become proficient. If you do buy a three incher, I'd personally recommend a 185 JHP instead of 230 grain. If you reload, even better. Load the 185 to the low end of power curve and test into a bunch of phone books to see if you get enough expansion. Ya know... the purists will say "Only use gelatin!" But I enjoy killing phone books, and this IS just my opinion. Overall... I own the Micro Compact Loaded from Springer. I also own the DW CCO, The Colt Mustang II and a host of others. And the CCO with it's Officer frame and Commander slide is what I go to for daily carry. Three inch barrel or 4" barrel? Its inside the waistband anyways. I'd go for the commander length barrel. Just my 2 cents, DaFadda |

Congratulations on your new Sig. You will be happy with the purchase. Can you post a pic of the firearm showing the other side? Grouse needs to see another external ejector on a 1911! LOL.... good luck with your new gun!
