CBOB's Front Sight
Was breaking in a new CBOB today at an indoor range, and my front sight (stock CBOB night sight) almost fell off. Luckily I noticed it shifting off before losing it. But I see there's a pin or screw hole in the front portion of the sight and the slide.
Is this hole for a pin or a screw? To replace, is it a standard "something" part or a DW specific part? BTW, loved how it shot; was accurate until the front sight started shifting to the left (looking down the slide). Tnx |
The hole is for a roll pin. Essentially you have two choices....Go buy a 1/16" diameter(you can use a 1/16" drill bit to verify the hole size) roll pin a roll pin punch and something to trim the roll pin off with. Install the pin scribe the length, remove the pin trim and reinstall, perhaps with a drop of blue loc tite. The other option is degease the sight and dove tail, raise a burr or two on the bottom of the sight to snug the fit up and reinstall with blue or red loctite. Be advised the use of red will take a source of heat to soften the loctite to be able to remove the sight. I've done both, both work well. I'm sure the experts will be along to provide other options that I'm not bright enough to comprehend.

There was a lot of talk on the 1911 forum about Vbob rear sights moving. Mine haven't yet after 2000 rds. Call DW they probably aren't very busy. LOL. Seriously, give them a call.

I agree call Keith.

You could try Dave Severns of Severns Custom at 775-790-0681.

another for dave severns. He has my vbob and is replacing the sights, crowning the barrell and hard hatting it, a cz82, and sig 226 slide.

Sending it to Keith at DW or Dave Severns is going to take a while. This is the front sight Dave put on my CBOB.

Thanks all for the info.
Sent an email to DW and Keith responded in minutes. The front sight roll pin is 1/6" x 3/16" and he's sending me one. He also recommended red Loctite applied to the front sight base. I've got the right hammer and pin punch, so easy enough to tap it in. DW, great folks over there. Now if I can just get me a Valor out here in CA to continue supporting DW ... |
Got the roll pin from Keith. Lined up the sight, and tapped in the pin with a 1/16" roll pin punch, and now I'm gtg. Thanks all!
