The Ruger 1911, the way I want it....
http://i390.photobucket.com/albums/o.../MP45c-1-1.jpg
He is my 1911. I added a few parts. I might checker the front strap when I feel in the need to be in pain for a week.:p |
So Alan what Parts did you add to it?

Harrison's SS.
Caspian GS. C&S thumb safety. Greider trigger. God knows who's SS mainspring housing. Beats me who's SS pins. (Besides the Slide Stop, I had all the parts gathering dust. So on the MH and pins I haven't got a clue to the make.) I am thinking of putting a Vickers hammer, sear, and disco in it. But I don't think I need to put diamond earrings on a pig. I will also put Heine NS on....sometime. And a buddy wants me to bob it.Ellison |
Very Nice Self Improvements on your Ruger, can't wait to see the pics when you are done with it, especially after you Bobtail it......................

Why don't you like BOBTAILED 1911's?

Sure I do, just don't have the time right now.

Definitely an improvement. So HC, which other maker would you compare a stock Ruger to? I have friends ask me about 1911's and IMO the Ruger looks like "just another" mim-filled production 1911 to me, but I'd like to say, "It's about like -Insert Brand-."

Better as in no funky ILS like Springer. Better fit and finish. The integral plunger is a HUGE benefit. Standard Novak sight cuts a a boon. Everything made in the USA by American workers is a biggy too. Better than Kimber in the Novak cuts on the Ruger. The barrel is fitted much better on the Ruger. MIM is fine by me as long as it is good MIM. Some makers use MIM and you NEVER hear about parts breaking. Springer..Good MIM. Kimber....BAD MIM. Wilson Combat Value line...GOOD MIM. Ruger....Who knows as it has just came out. But I'm sure it is fine as Ruger makes good MIM as you never hear about their other guns breaking. It's just my opinion...and it may stink, but it is mine. |
Thanks HC for the review and info.
I am thinking of a new 5" 1911 and I will have to put the Ruger on the to consider list. Thanks again. |
