Help a Disabled Vet.

Okay gentlemen I would like to ask for some help for a friend. The story is, I have a friend in South Carolina that had received a gift certificate to a local public range. He and the wife went to this range that they have never been to in their life, cause they usually shoot at their house. While there he noticed a young disabled man sweeping up brass. He was using a self standing dust pan and a broom. But he was holding the dust pan with his mouth and trying to sweep brass with his right hand cause he's missing most of his left arm and all of his left leg. So my friend went over to help the guy pick up brass. And the guy "josh" refused help with his project says he does that almost every day. So my friend "bobby" and josh got to talking, bobby asked him if he reloaded. Josh said no but is really wanting to learn and get himself some equipment. Josh is a disabled marine that lost his body parts to an IED a little while back. He's young like mid 20's . Bobby invited him over to teach him how to load and cast bullets. Bobby said josh was so thrilled to be there learning this because his grandpa was suppose to teach him when he returned from the war, but grandpa had passed away by this point. He did leave josh a savage .308 and a couple hundred rounds of reloads. That josh was grouping less than 1moa with at the 500 mark. He's a shooter. That's all he does is shoot and take care of his disabled mom. Josh collects the brass from this range keeps the 308 and sells the rest for scrap to buy cheap Walmart ammo so he can shoot. He gets about a box a week. Bobby was so touched by this young man that he has decided to spend his own money that he can scrounge together to get this guy his own setup, and I've donated several items aswell . Like a set of dies, scale, trickler, pound of varget, shell holder, half a box of AMAX bullets. I'm posting all of this because we need your help to finish Josh's package up. We have everything together except a supply of bullets, and I'm asking that any of you that have any .308 projectiles laying around that you don't use anymore please ship them to bobby to give to josh if you don't mind. I know this is more of a pay it forward type thing but this whole deal had touched me and I wanna do all I can to help this young guy out that has a hard time being able to do the one thing he loves doing. If you are not interested forget you read the story . If you are stuff can be sent to : Bobby Paradise 122 equine ln moncks corner sc 29461. Thanks for your time reading all of this if nothing else. I hope to post pics of josh shooting and loading after this is all set up for him thanks again . This message has been approved by: Jon Jon Shooting Bull Berry

I don't shoot .308, does he happen to have a .45? Could we all chip in and get him a .45 - maybe a RIA GI?

If it's more realistic would a gift card to Brownell's be appropriate?

Also, reading that address doesn't make sense to me. Would you be kind enough to dumb it down to something like:

Name
Street
City, State, Zip

Thanks!

I have some military .308 and some Black Hills Match...I'll dig through the safe. Dunno about rules about shipping them USPS (and really don't care). He can shoot 'em up and save the brass

I think the military is from my last lot # of Lake City

Yup, need to clean up the address, Ed. Folks here will help, you know that

How about a couple of boxes of Federal Match .308 168 grain?
Are they reloadable?

DO NOT ship USPS......Fed Ex or UPS only. There is no special charge to ship Fed Ex or UPS, but they do like if you tell them it is small arms ammo and they will put a sticker on the box, or some tape...and it will be tracked.

The Federal Match is a goldmine to some. Very, very nice offer.

I may make a trip to see this young Marine when I am at my SC house. He will not be sad when I leave.

I put this out there to COTEP membership...

Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not it's better to send a group gift/package or do it piecemeal individually?

You suggested a Gift Card, I think that would be great to get for this VET.

Either Brownell's or Midway.

If we do this we need to elect someone to collect and purchase the card and send it to him.
