Dallas Hospital Worker Tests Positive For Ebola

Quote:

The worker wore a gown, gloves, mask and shield while she cared for Duncan during his second visit to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, said Dr. Daniel Varga of Texas Health Resources, which runs the hospital. Frieden said the worker has not been able to identify a specific breach of protocol that might have led to her being infected.

The CDC and USAMRIID treat any room containing the Ebola virus as a Level 4 Hot Zone. Here is what you do when entering a Level 4 Hot Zone:

Level 1, Locker room: Strip completely down to skin and put on a sterile scrub suit and surgical cap and walk barefoot into Level 2

Level 2, Airtight room with negative pressure: Put on socks and walk into Level 3

Level 3, Staging area: Put on surgical gloves then tape the scrub suit to the gloves and socks. Then walk into an antechamber to Level 4.

Antichamber: Put on a Chemturion biological space suit, which has brown rubber gloves attached by gaskets at the cuffs. Put on helmet and close suit with an oiled ziplock zipper. Attach air hose. Gather what tools you will need, unplug air hose and walk into the Level 4 Air Lock

Level 4 Air Lock/DeCon Shower: Not much to do here except when leaving. Walk through Air Lock and enter Level 4 Hot Zone.

Level 4 Hot Zone: Attach air hose and put on rubber boots. Detach air hose, walk to your work station and attach air hose.

I guarantee you the protocol for entering Mr. Duncan's room at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital was nothing anywhere like this. Your average American Hospital is not prepared to deal with Ebola. Only a few hospitals are really prepared and trained for Ebola.

Now we are sending troops into Ebola hot zones. Beside putting them in harms way. They will be coming home. Doesn't make any since to me.

This is all made worse as we cannot trust a damn thing the administration or the President tell us. The agencies of the government have been so politicized by the President's chosen agenda driven cabinet members that we cannot trust them to do their work to run our government. In fact we find that they are being used to punish tax payers for their political beliefs. We are a mess. Frankly the non existent border security frightens me more than Ebola although imagine what it will be when cases start in south and central America.
