Different crime... Different judicial mindset. I think either gender would have the same difficulty when it comes to murder.

As I'm pretty sure you know, Statutory rape law was written primarily with the opposite genders in mind (i.e. the female being the victim/minor)... Still, it has to apply to both genders, equally. Furthermore, the defendant being the young man's teacher, there's a "position of trust" issue in play as well. But I'm curious as to when the AOC was raised to 18 in FL? I thought it was 17 in most cases.

Still, it will be interesting to see how the court system plays out with the genders being what they are, in this case. Will the defendant be prosecuted as "vigorously" as would a male defendant in the same circumstance???
