The Virginia situation is now in the "theater of the absurd" but may be an unexpected boon for Republicans.
The black Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax (D) was next in line if (when) the Governor steps down, but he has now been hit with sexual assault allegations.
The Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring (D), who is next in line after Fairfax has now admitted to using blackface.
Next in line after Herring is the Speaker of the House Republican Kirk Cox.
So Virginia could potentially lose the Democrat Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General, all in one fell swoop, giving a Republican the Governorship.
