The guy that did the stabilizing for me said he could sell those on eBay for $35-$40 per pair easily. He's in Arizona and he said it's too hot right now to work in his shop, but when the weather cools down in the fall I'm going to send him a bunch of spalted oak scales to stabilize. He's uses "Cactus Juice" in a vacuum chamber. Cactus Juice is a thermal setting resin, and when used in a vacuum chamber it penetrates the fibers all the way through, turning a piece of wood into basically wood micarta.
The Cactus Juice and a finish coat of epoxy varnish bring out the colors and contrasts better than anything else I've tried, and I've tried a lot of things.
