The serial number is on the butt. You may have to remove the grips to see it.
The other numbers on the frame and under the stocks, are factory assembly numbers and have no meaning after leaving the factory.
The model 19 was referred to as a
Combat Magnum previous to S&W adopting the Model number system in 1957
The dash number as in 19-6 etc refers to various changes made during the times the gun was produced.
