Default First Remington and now...gasp....Ruger

I can't say that either of these offerings elicits much more than a yawn from me. Johny come lately is all they are in my view. Slapped together for the mass market with no real significant pluses of any kind to distinguish them from say the tried and true decent budget 1911s from Armscor. (Note that I didn't mention the cheap Taurus as I don't consider them worthy of any consideration for any number of reasons not worth going into here.)

Now I will admit my bias here.... first against Remington who, back in the days when the 5 MBA suits owned the company, told me that 3 MOA for their Varmint rifles was "good enough" despite the chamber on my 700V being outside of SAMMI specs and having 0.090" over overbore. HA! These were the same mental midgets who deemed the XP100 a niche gun and had it dropped from their line. Dealer took it back angrier than I was at Remington. Haven't bought jack from them since.

Then there's Bill Ruger, champion of the 10 round max capacity handgun magazine. Great when a gun company CEO goes tits up and touts gun control measures for the masses. He lost me and a good number of my friends as customers with that bit of brilliance. So no love lost on either of these firms and their new 1911 offerings. Can you say PASS?
