Oh, you can buy a gun, long or shot, even without a permit and take it home that day. You can't carry it however, except in your car. It takes anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months to get the permit.
You can't wear the gun openly or concealed without a permit and in some jurisdictions you will get hassled by LE for wearing it WITH a permit ("It's
SCARING people"
).
Atlanta is the worst. Full of Yuppies and Metrosexuals that freak out at the sight of a gun.
But on the other hand, there is Kennesaw Georgia, where by law you
MUST own a gun!
