It's a design feature of the STI 1911. The weapon itself has a unique monitoring system that detects when the operator has a tendency to be "limp wristed" After a certain number of rounds fired, the limp wrist detector (LRD) allows the ejector to move slightly to hit the operator in forehead with brass (HOFWB feature) to remind them to tighten their grip.

If you feel the LRD is going off early or the HOFWB is annoying, just call STI and ask them to send you a non-LRD extractor or the HOFWB modification kit. I'd like to listen in on the call if you don't mind.
