Not to be picky, but Glock calls then slide stops. Why they're so thin and flat. If look for and order a beefier and an extended one then they may call those slide releases for that would like to uses them as yourself.
From 1st gen to 3rd they recommend not to use them as a release. Since they weren't made beefy enough they are notorious for breaking. My understanding is they beefed them up for 4th gen.
Just a little trivia.

Btw, it figures you're wired wrong. You would be an aberration. Explains a whole lot.
