Looking for some feedback / suggestions from those who have / carry a DW CCO on what brand leather IWB and or OWB holsters to consider / look at. Dave said he'd be done with my CCO the end of this week so hopefully I'll get my hands on it next week. I have a couple of things I'd like to do to it first .... then run 2-3 hundred rounds through it and get it into the rotation, barring any unforeseen complications.

Do you have a 1911 in your current carry rotation? If so, what holster are you using at the moment? I like a lot of forward rake (30 degrees) to hide the grip of a full size 1911 when IWB. When OWB, do you like a high ride, low ride, forward rake or straight drop, etc.? Where you intend to wear it along your belt can be a big determining factor in what holster works for you.

Colt Hammerless (Paul) makes a great holster! I bought a holster, mag carrier and belt and they are top quality. His time frame is great. Absolutely flawless. I have been wearing them for the last month and love them.

I've tried several with my CCO, with leather from Lane to Kydex. I've defaulted to my Crossbreed leather and Kydex IWB. Please no flames from the leather purists.... It goes in, it comes out (fast) and it stays exactly where its supposed to. And isn't that what a holster is supposed to do?

Sorry for just responding, I was in the shop putting some finish on some projects. I don't have a website yet, but I do have a Photobucket page with some of my work on it. Here's a link to the section with 1911 holsters on it.
The Beretta 92 has a grip about the same length as a 1911, so that's a good starting point. Do you like the way your current holster carries it, as far as rake, and ride height? BTW, congrats on your first 1911!! As far as IWB goes, a couple months ago I took this photo to show the differences in a 15 degree (the dark brown) and a 25 degree (tan): ![]() Glad you like it Sheepdog! Hmmmm....for some reason the link to my Photobucket page isn't showing up. Here's goes another try.
It may not be going "hot," so you may have to copy and paste it. s1195.photobucket.com/user/NAAp51/library/1911%20Holsters?sort=3&page=1 Paul |
