My brothers,
I have a 2011 CCO with 150 rds thru the pipe, this is the first clean/lube job since the initial before I fired it. I have used nothing but a solvent(Outers) for the initial cleaning. NIB the pistol had a sheen to it and no longer does ... I can't seem to get that back no matter what I use. ![]() Has this happened to anyone else with a Duty Coat firearm ? Is this normal or to be expected ? I've heard this finish described as "charcoal" so maybe what I see now is the true look !? Also ... I must have unknowingly brushed the slide with one of my brass tools and can't seem to get that off either. I'm getting more ![]() I don't expect my CCO to look new for a lifetime, but it is less than two months old ! PLEASE HELP !

Matt,
Have you tried Break free CLP on the brass marks, letting it soak awhile and using a nylon brush? You may also try an eraser on the marks. Not sure about restoring the finish? ![]() Greg

Greg,
I did try some EEZOX(another clp like Breakfree) with a patch but did not let it sit on the gun. Thank you for the eraser trick. I will try that first, then the 000 steel wool and some oil if need be ... interesting read from the link you sent. Thanks ! Matt

Ok,
The eraser did not work, but steel wool and some EEZOX did the trick ! It completely eliminated the brass marks. I must confess that I was a little concerned about using steel wool but the article eased my mind. It did not phase that duty coat one bit, I'm certainly impressed with the durability now ! Thanks again ! Matt
