Default not another lock thread

My brother asked me when S&W started puting the lock in their guns. I can't remember exactly but 1987 sticks in my mind for some reason. He wants to buy a 686 but would prefer a pre lock model. Anybody know for sure?

Sure I will shoot your Glock. Just hang it up there with the rest of the targets.

I have 3 629's. The newest were made in 1994 or 1995 and have no locks.

I think they began phasing in the lock in 2000

In case you are interested, there is a very simple and attractive way of removing the lock and covering the hole.

The "Plug"
