Default New hog gun

Savage Axis in .308 Win. Left handed, free floating bull barrel, pillar bedded action. $314 delivered from Bud's.

Not as nice as my Tactical I sold. Savages new definition of "Bull barrel" involves a lot less metal than it used to. And I dislike the stock...rounded forearm versus flat on bottom. The action seems the same as my Tactical. Doubt I can shoot MOA at 800 yards like I did with the old rifle, but it'll kill hogs. I'll zero it at 1 1/2" high at 100 yards, which will put it dead zero at 200. Mounted the Bushnell scope I won from Doc and a sling I had in a drawer...I'll change the sling to the old OD Marine sling later. I also do not like the detachable magazine. Flimsy. Tactical had an internal box magazine

Very nice, even tho the bolt handle is on the wrong side.

I think if you change the stock you will end up spending more than the rifle actually cost you. I agree with you, I prefer a flatter front end.

The biggest pain in the a** you'll probably ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every morning.

That is a lot of gun for $300, Mike. Good show. I have not had a rifle for some years till recently when I bought an AR. It still feels weird as I have not made the transition yet. I would do a lot better with your BACON SHOPPING set up.
