Go Figure... It's also FLAG DAY!
How many of us had to learn to sing... "It's a grand old flag, its a high flying flag, and forever in peace may it wave! It's the emblem of the land I love, the home of the free and the brave! Every heart beats true, for the red white and blue, where there's never a boast or brag, Should auld acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the grand old Flag!" Our grammar school classes stood in military style formation in the school yard every June 14th, where we saluted the flag and paid our respect to our country. This would be right around 1964. And yes, it included singing "It's a Grand Old Flag". 50+ years later and I still remember the words. And today, teachers unions and school boards have decided that children shouldn't have to learn honor and respect of country. Hmmmmm..... and they wonder why things have gone downhill?
