Default Russian Report: Syrian Rebels responsible for chemical attacks

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2013/09/0...ge-report.html

Quote:
Russia says it has compiled a 100-page report detailing what it says is evidence that Syrian rebels, not forces loyal to President Bashar Assad, were behind a deadly sarin gas attack in an Aleppo suburb earlier this year.

In a statement posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website late Wednesday. Russia said the report had been delivered to the United Nations in July and includes detailed scientific analysis of samples that Russian technicians collected at the site of the alleged attack, Khan al Asal.

People who have lived in Syria say there is no way Assad used chemical weapons on his own people.

Nobody has come up with any plausible reason for him to use chemical weapons, especially now that he is kicking Rebel butt.

There have been many reports of Rebels claiming responsibility.

Rebels captured an air base where chemical weapons were stored.

Some reports indicate...wait for it...that the CIA conspired with Rebel forces to carry out the chemical attacks in order to force the U.S. into taking action.

Just saw this....

The report itself was not released. But the statement drew a pointed comparison between what it said was the scientific detail of the report and the far shorter intelligence summaries that the United States, Britain and France have released to justify their assertion that the Syrian government launched chemical weapons against Damascus suburbs on Aug. 21. The longest of those summaries, by the French, ran nine pages. Each relies primarily on circumstantial evidence to make its case, and they disagree with one another on some details, including the number of people who died in the attack.

Specifically, the Russians claim to have evidence that:

The shell fragments in the chemical attack are inconsistent with anything known to be in Syrian government inventory -- but are consistent with that of improvised shells constructed by the rebels.

The gas itself contains contaminents not consistent with industrial-scale production of Sarin, but is consistent with old, 1950s-era production when the processes to make the gas were in development. Syria didn't exist as a government producing such material in the 1950s.

The bursting charges (the part that goes "boom") apparently were RDX. RDX is a compound not typically used by government military entities because it is expensive and there are better compounds available to them. But RDX is common in ter
rorist munitions.

There are various reports about whether this particular set of data came from the attack in August, or an earlier one in March. McClatchy believes this is from March. I'm not so sure. But it doesn't really matter, does it, if it establishes that the rebels use chemical weapons, irrespective of when they used them.

After all, the premise behind us bombing Assad is that he used them against the rebels. If the Rebels used them either instead of Assad or both sides used them then exactly what justification do we have for getting involved in this at all?

Now this: The report leaked to the media that was the basis of news stories about there being evidence that the regime carried out the attacks was doctored.

The undoctored report reportedly shows the opposite:

Quote:
According to the doctored report, the chemical attack was carried out by the 155th Brigade of the 4th Armored Division of the Syrian Army, an elite unit commanded by Maher al-Assad, the president’s brother.

However, the original communication intercepted by Unit 8200 between a major in command of the rocket troops assigned to the 155th Brigade of the 4th Armored Division, and the general staff, shows just the opposite.

The general staff officer asked the major if he was responsible for the chemical weapons attack. From the tone of the conversation, it was clear that “the Syrian general staff were out of their minds with panic that an unauthorized strike had been launched by the 155th Brigade in express defiance of their instructions,” the former officers say.

According to the transcript of the original Unit 8200 report, the major “hotly denied firing any of his missiles” and invited the general staff to come and verify that all his weapons were present.

The report contains a note at the end that the major was interrogated by Syrian intelligence for three days, then returned to command of his unit. “All of his weapons were accounted for,” the report stated.

When Rep Alan Grayson challenged Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel to release the undoctored report, Hagel bounced back and forth between feigning ignorance, and saying he couldn't because it was "probably classified." Grayson then asked Hagel to DECLASSIFY IT.

Here is the video of Grayson challenging Hagel (beginning at 3:45 of this clip):

And the lying ba$tards just keep on lying! They just don't know how to tell the truth.

You cannot believe anything, any of them are spouting. They both (obummer and Putin) have huge agendas and many behind the scenes players with big money and bigger dreams of ruling the middle east.

In my humble opinion heres the lies and high points.
1. Casualty count, no one can give an accurate figure, the doctors without borders types that were on the ground there were probably closest.
2.The rebels have been launching their own homemade chem weapons for months, and video taping it for all to see.
3. Yes Syria has a huge chem stockpile and I wouldn't put it past them using it, but not with the UN on the ground watching.
4.The Saudis and Qataris are funding and fueling this and wanting to use the US military as their private mercenaries.
5. For it to be true Military Grade Gas, the "videos" don't show a true military grade chem attack.
6. The Hague convention calls for UN action and prohibits unilateral action by any member states.
7. Did we care when Saddam and Iran were gassing each other right and left, NO.
8. Do we really need to intervene in someone elses civil war. NO
9. Can we afford it, even the Saudis and Qataris are offering to pay the whole bill, how much is American blood valued today.
10. The middle east will never be un-f'd, not until they are all dead and meeting mohammed or his brother depending on if their Sunni or Shiite
11.Will this turn into WW3, most likely, it will definitely reshape the entire middle east and us along with it.
12. If the government truly works for the people, they must listen, and when they go ahead and bomb Syria, what will it lead to here domestically...... ?
13. Would the depraved and ruthless rebels gas their own people, absolutely.
14. Funny how all the anti war people, suddenly become hawks once in office and are no better than that crazy warmonger McStain.
15. never let a good crisis go to waste, and divert the peoples attention from all the government scandals here at home, and the upcoming sept 11th anniversary will once again be perverted for political gain.

I could go on and on, but the playbook has changed with every scenario, why not trot out all the experts and photos of the evidence as done previously, and why not show the world that once your mouth paints your country into a corner and your wrong, or cant prove something absolutely. that you can do something other than bomb and rattle sabers like a 3 year old throwing a fit. I pray nightly for our once great nation and for the poor civilians here and there caught up in their game like expendable pawns on the chessboard of the gods of old.

again my humble two cents, God help us all.
