That's pretty weird how the barrel could split completely in half and stay relatively straight. The barrel had to be very brittle.
What's scary is that something like this is not usually isolated. Which means this won't be the only one. Could you tell whether it failed from the front or rear? Most pictures of split barrels I've seen are curled out from the point of failure. Like these examples: ![]() ![]()
