Chronographs, Recommendations.

I have had the Shooting Chrony Beta Master Chronograph for several years now, been very reliable. Works well in all types of day light. Indoor requires the use of a halogen light and no florescent lights period. (flicker really pisses it off) Shot string memory is handy for statistical and grouping work.

I've had two Shooting Chrony chronographs, and while they do a good job, I have my gripes with them. If I had to start over again from scratch, I'd probably go with the Caldwell Kit, which includes a light kit.

I get drastic differences in velocity readings between cloudy and clear days. And drastic differences between using the skyscreens and not using the skyscreens. And the skyscreens are constantly popping off which is really annoying.

Using the light kit should normalize the readings under all conditions. I actually have a light kit for the Shooting Chrony, but the damned thing uses an AC adapter for power. Where the hell am I going to plug it in at the range???? The Caldwell light kit uses batteries.
